SIP Trunks

SIP Trunking (SIP, or Session Initiation Protocol) serves as an intermediary between your phone system and an Internet Telephony Service Provider and allows a user to combine their voice and data functionality on a single internet connection, while keeping their phone numbers and their phones (but discarding their carrier), its associated and unnecessary costs, and also establishing a more reliable connection.

BENEFITS

Voice and Data over a single connection

SIP Trunking gives you the ability to combine data, voice and video in a single line, eliminating the need for separate lines. This results in lowered costs, greater ease of use, and enhanced reliability.

Common and Safe

Over 50% of US businesses use SIP Trunking, and the percentage is growing annually.

Easy to Configure with Minimal Hardware Requirements

It is easy to add new lines to your SIP trunk to deal with a higher call load. Benecom can easily add new channels, and often this can be done immediately and with minimal or no hardware requirements. With your local carrier, it can take days or even months to add lines and then the hardware on your PBX system will need to be upgraded as well. This can be costly in time and money. Also, with SIP trunks, you can choose just the right number of lines that you need. With your local carrier, you often have to choose to add either 15 or 30 lines adding more expense to your overall telecom cost.

Better Customer Service

You get more access to geographic and international numbers. You can easily add numbers to your SIP connections and give your customers local instead of 1-800 numbers to call you. This will increase customer satisfaction and ensure your local presence in remote areas. Also, SIP trunks are not tied to a location, so it’s simple to move offices without having to change your branch phone number.

Simplified Billing

If your carrier’s bill seems Greek to you, with SIP Trunking it will be in plain English. Your organization can generally expect to pay a predictable amount that’s generally calculated and billed by the total number of phone lines you use monthly.

Redundant, Reliable Network

With PRI (Primary rate Interface) the standard that your carrier uses for your voice communications, your company can only have one pre-determined phone number for incoming calls, with no options if the connection fails. SIP trunking is different, and allows your phone connections if disrupted to automatically transfer to (1) your company’s dedicated SIP circuit; (2) your Internet connection (3) a backup Internet connection, or (4) another company site or phone number. This boosts your voice reliability significantly.

Significant Cost Savings

Since calls are being routed over the Internet, call charges are much lower than routing through your local carrier. SIP trunking eliminates the physical connection to your local carrier. There are no hardware, wiring, or physical circuits to maintain for connection to the PSTN. Reducing multiple phone lines into a single point of entry greatly reduces charges for incoming lines and the IT cost associated with the maintenance of those lines.

Supports Multiple Locations

Traditionally, companies were faced with buying separate lines for each of their geographic locations, leaving them with under-utilized circuits, multiple vendors to manage, complex billing, and greater expenses. With SIP Trunking, only one account is needed for your branch offices.  Sharing your service plan across multiple locations enables you to pool your SIP resources on a single account, adding to your telecom savings while providing easier vendor management.

Use Savings to Replace Antiquated Phone Systems

With a SIP trunk it is easier for you to move your entire voice network over to VoIP. Modern VoIP phone systems give businesses increased productivity, mobility, and are easy to use.

How Do I Get Started?
